It’s a «real complex woman and not just a superhero»
Despite all the major broadcasters having passed on the show, David E. Kelley tells The Hollywood Reporter that he still thinks his vision for Wonder Woman will air down the road. «I think the likelihood is we’ll see it next year,» he told The Hollywood Reporter. «I’m being optimistic but I don’t think I’m being unrealistic.» Kelley noted that the script was «rolled out very late in the game» and said that he would bring the project back to NBC, which reportedly passed. The project reportedly failed to move forward there due to executive reshuffling. «I like to think of it as a smart script and I know he responds to smart material,» Kelley said Thursday of his vision in which Wonder Woman would be explored as a «real complex woman and not just a superhero.» Another option for the show could be cable. Well, she should be complex-as a series, if a character is somewhat complex, it gives them room to grow, rather than remain one-dimensional. As long as she is still a superhero, and wears an outfit at least close to the original. And looks good in it. Report Abuse

Difficult
I think Wonder Woman might be a bit of a poison chalice for live action. There’s a difficult dichotomy between displaying her as a «real, complex woman» and her wearing anything akin to her original costume. They’re not independent of each other obviously – but a superheroes costume is one of their defining features (just take a look at the arguments that arise here every time a snap is revealed!), and it is difficult to create a feminist character on screen that prances around wearing an ultimately impractical and suggestive costume. Change it and you damage your core audience, be criticised for exploitation/sexism etc in the press and you’ll miss out on people that would just ‘tune in’. Very difficult scenario to get right. I don’t think she will be wearing an outfit like her costume or any costume. I think NBC will have the actress look sexy but have a series of outfits. They will treat this like they did «Heroes.» None of THEM wore costumes. Report Abuse

@Kenneth Byrd: None of THEM were iconic characters. Trying to pass off a Wonder Woman that doesn’t wear her trademark costume would be significantly more difficult because, like Superman, WW is identified as much by her appearance as she is by her character. You could get away with keeping the characters on Heroes in street clothes because we had no preconceived notions of them as costumed icons of superheroism- they were just ordinary people w/ special abilities. Wonder Woman is a full-blown superhero. Even if they take drastic liberties with her appearance, she needs to have her costume. (And before anyone mentions that Smallville managed to tell Superman stories without featuring a costume, I have to point out that a.) that was only acceptable because of the premise of the show- that a young Clark Kent is mastering his powers on his way to becoming the Man of Steel- and b.) the idea didn’t exactly work out in the long run, now did it?) Kelly is pretty vague about when the show will air. Unfortunately, his optimism doesn’t seem anchored in reality. Still… good luck to him with this project. Report Abuse

it was on for ten years and was the first truly successful superhero tv show, so yeah it did work out. Wonder Woman’s costumed should be redesigned as glden battle armor that she only puts on for special occassions. Even in the old comics, she spends much of her time in her Diana Prince disguise. @ Darik Smallville «didn’t work out in the long run»? How many shows go TEN YEARS these days, besides crappy reality shows? Smallville is the longest-running live-action superhero program in history, I would say it is without a shadow of a doubt an enormous success. Report Abuse

Don’t forget that they updated her costume and that she hasn’t always evene dressed in the exact same thing for her whole run anyway. Live action Batman totally changed his suit and it stuck in the comic book world as well. They took elements of Burton and Nolan’s suits and incorperated them into cannon. Wonder Woman would work very well, considering shows like La Femme Nikita and Chuck, which features a LOT of butt whoopin from his girlfriend the spy. She can get sexy, but she can also stay clothed. ojalá la resulte, me alegra que no deseche el proyecto, y estoy seguro que si funciona será el puntapié inicial para darle paso a la película de la Mujer Maravilla, de una vez por todas. …

I agree in part to this blog, but maybe i need to think about it more
My brother recommended I might like this website. He was totally right.
This post actually made my day. You cann’t imagine simply how much time I had spent for this info! Thanks!
I went with Wonder Years which included all 115 episodes for $73.99, and Blossom seasons 1-5 for $68.99.
